Adventica Mülheim: Turning New Challenges into New Ideas

Adventica Mülheim became a testing ground for new CTRL+N concepts including Space Wars, Color Challenge and an Interactive Maze integrated into soft play.

Innovation often starts with a simple question: what could we do  differently this time?

With every new Adventica location, CTRL+N gets the opportunity to take  proven interactive concepts further, experiment with new mechanics, and develop  solutions specifically for the space and its visitors.    Adventica Mülheim an der Ruhr became a great example of this approach.    The park includes several familiar CTRL+N attractions — Running Race, Hand  Bike Race, Big and Small Challenge Tables, Button Challenge, Hungry Monsters,  and Lines — but the project also gave us the opportunity to introduce  completely new experiences.

‍

🚀 Space Wars was developed especially for this location. The game  combines quick reactions, tactical decisions, and competition to create a  fast-moving interactive experience.

‍

🎨 Color Challenge takes competition to another level. Four players  compete simultaneously across seven increasingly difficult levels, reacting  to illuminated buttons and trying to identify the correct ones as quickly as  possible. Individual screens and dedicated sensor-button sets make the  gameplay easy to follow while keeping everyone involved — including the people  watching from the side.

‍

We also looked at how traditional play equipment could become  interactive.    The Interactive Maze adds a digital challenge to a familiar soft-play  structure. As visitors move through the maze, they activate sensor buttons  along the route. Their results are tracked throughout the game, with the  final score revealing which animal best matches their performance.

‍

The ball area received a new layer of gameplay too.    Alongside the familiar air-powered tube system, we added Ball Shooting and  Basketball. Placing Ball Shooting opposite the air cannons creates a natural  extension of the play area, giving children another way to test their  accuracy, compete with friends, and stay involved.

‍

That's what makes projects like Mülheim interesting for us.    Innovation doesn't always mean replacing everything with something  completely new. Sometimes, it's about taking an existing idea and adding  another dimension to it — more interaction, more challenge, or a completely  different way of experiencing it.

‍

At CTRL+N, every new location gives us a reason to experiment, improve, and  discover what interactive entertainment can become next.
